Even an ancient dinosaur engine from the 70's can be upgraded.Sep 03, 2015
I salvaged an ancient Kioritz SRM-300 Trimmer that someone had put out for the trash collector. When I examined it I found several serious adjustments that the previous owner had made. The most serious was the carb was tuned incorrectly. Another was the condenser was missing! While doing a Amazon search for a new condenser I noticed the Ignition Module. I heard or read about them , but it never occurred to me to substitute or install one. Probably because the condenser never gave me a problem on any engine I've owned. Until now. The module installs easily and quickly with only 2 wires to attach. It is small enough to fit in any size engine and it works. After years of intermittent repair attempts on the Kioritz (I think I've had it since 1998!) I was able to start it after installing this module. It's been a huge milestone for me. I'm glad I held on to it.
It just worksMay 26, 2015
Couldn't believe it but it works. Not sure how it determines timing other than the build up of current in the circuit and a timed discharge, but the 5hp Briggs engine seems to run fine.
